Nitrile Gloves and Latex Gloves

Nitrile gloves are made of nitrile latex. Nitrile latex has excellent performance in fit, durability, stretchability and oil resistance. The gloves made with it have more obvious advantages in resistance to organic solvents and puncture. Compared with PVC gloves and latex gloves, nitrile gloves are stronger and more breathable. In addition, because nitrile gloves do not contain protein, people with allergies are not prone to allergic reactions.

Nitrile gloves, namely NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) gloves, are synthesized from acrylonitrile and butadiene, and are an intermediate product between latex gloves and PVC gloves. Nitrile gloves and latex gloves are widely used in electronic processing, mechanical processing, food processing and other industries. Because they are all disposable gloves, many people do not know how to distinguish between them. Let’s focus on these two gloves and introduce the differences between them.

Advantages and disadvantages of nitrile gloves and latex gloves

The material of nitrile gloves: NBR, a synthetic rubber, whose main components are acrylonitrile and butadiene.

Advantages: no allergies, biodegradable, pigments can be added, brighter colors

Disadvantages: poor elasticity; chemical resistance and acid and alkali resistance of nitrile material are much better than latex, therefore, the price is higher than latex products.

The material of latex gloves: natural latex (NR)

Advantages: good elasticity, degradable

Disadvantages: sensitization in some people

Latex gloves: Compared with nitrile gloves, the toughness and abrasion resistance are slightly inferior, but the elasticity is better. The abrasion resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and grease are slightly worse than nitrile gloves. It is not suitable for allergic skin and long-term wear.

Nitrile gloves: The material is relatively hard and the elasticity is poor. But it has good abrasion resistance, acid and alkali resistance (some nitrile gloves cannot prevent acetone and strong alcohol), anti-static property, and will not cause skin allergies. It is suitable for people who are prone to allergies and wear for a long time.

Pay attention to the following when wearing nitrile gloves:

1. Don’t wear rings or other jewelry on your hands;

2. The fingernails should be trimmed regularly and not too long to avoid damage to the fingertips of the gloves;

3. Prevent the piercing of sharp objects, such as needles, toothpicks, etc.;

4. Taking off the gloves is to slowly withdraw from the wrist downwards, and can not pull from the finger;

5. Pay attention to the size when choosing, too small will cause the blood to flow unsmoothly, and too large will easily fall off;

6. Periodic inspection is required. If it is found to be damaged, it cannot be used again.

Precautions for latex gloves are as follows:

1. Avoid contact with chemicals such as acids, alkalis, and organic solvents.

2. When handling infectious substances, powder-free and low-protein latex gloves should be selected to reduce the risk of allergies. However, the so-called hypoallergenic latex gloves cannot reduce the risk of latex allergies, but can only reduce the allergic reactions caused by chemical additives in latex gloves.
